I am a black, non-binary, anti-racist worker, and a victim of police brutality.
I felt “little things” would be another piece of police propaganda propping up the “Blue Lives Matter” movement.
The trailer shows a Charlie Manson-esque creepy person played by Jared Leto being interrogated and intimidated by tough, rogue cop played by Denzil Washington.
Very “Law & Order” paradox of armed power being unjust and violent to gain justice from someone who does not readily invite compassion or protection.
But, we can’t talk about this because the blue life is also black, and the victim is white.
Yet, this movie depicts cop cover ups, cop corruption, cop illegal searches, and cop murder.
And, this is allowed in the viewpoints of many audiences because people thought to be criminal even though they have not been charged for any crime are less than and invite cruel treatment for simply being.
Yet, in “little things” there are little pieces shifting perceptive either way depending on the viewers’ background more than the movie’s continuity or conclusiveness.
Those who believe some cops are good cops will probably see the deception of the red barrette as a deception of kindness to give closure and soul back to a cop who made a fatal mistake.
Those who believe in police abolition will probably see a cop murdering someone sick with power not seeking justice and believe the cop’s escaping justice and finding redemption through a lie is yet another example of fascism justifying, defending, and protecting itself.
So, many little but important things.
What out of this compilation of little bits of truth and lies did you choose to believe?
