Like many other works of historical fiction, this movie fills in the gaps of Jesus's young life that weren't covered in the Gospels. It simply answers the "what if/what happened" questions that many Christians ask. In its own way, it fleshes out His young life, and the lives of His earthly parents, and extended family, much like The Chosen series does. However, The Chosen has the Gospels to work with. Jesus young life is almost completely unknown. I think this movie helps Christians to see Jesus as a living, relatable human being. Why else would God have sent Him in this way, but to reach us in a way we could understand?
