After 2 years I finally got to play TLOU2 and I have to be honest, it deserves all the credit it got. I didn't buy the game, I rented it but it made me sure that I need to spend 60 bucks to add it to my collection. Before we start talking, I should say I gave it 4 stars because of some bugs I found during the game which were not acceptable for a company such as Naughty Dog. The physics of the game was another problem for me as sometimes it didn't even make sense. But all in all I believe it's a game worth playing more than once and spending 80 hours exploring the post-apocalyptic US looking for all the items and looking at the beautiful areas they've designed.
I believe my opinion matters as I have tried some of the top titles of 2022 and they can't even compete to the first 2 hours of the game. I understand why a lot of fans are so mad at the game. They didn't want Joel to die. They wanted revenge and the ending completely disappointed them.
This is in fact the artistic work Naughty Dog has done. Since the beginning of the game everybody hated Abby, as she killed Joel right? But does this make Joel right for killing Abby's father? No! She avenged her father and that was all she wanted. Throughout the game, the narrative put the characters in each others' shoes. Abby understood what Joel might have felt like by losing Ellie as she met Lev and Ellie learned that losing someone she loves might not be as easy to forget as she thought. Yeah, she didn't kill Abby and she had all the rights. She wanted revenge, but step by step she learned that Abby wanted the same thing. As bad as the story might sound, the narrative helps you understand the layout of their relationship and why they reacted so crazy toward everything.
Last of Us Part 2 was a masterpiece in the survival-horror action genre and it should not be compared to anything but itself.
I loved the game and I say that if you haven't played it yet, you have lost a big part of the gaming history.
