I am a fan of the original the Winx Club AND Fate: Winx Saga. I used to watch it all the time after school. I'm 18 and I often still watch the cartoon when I need to relax. I understand why some people who were also fans of the cartoon wouldn't like it. It's darker, we don't have the same characters, and attitudes are different. But I am glad that these differences are there. They were never going to make an exact replica of the show, if they did not many people would watch it. I love this show because it feels more realistic and adult the show has a new story line so I can watch it and not know what comes next.
The part I love the most is that they are not instant friends. I like how it shows you need to build trust and bridges to connect to other people. No one should expect roommates to be best friends right away, that is reality. Everyones has a different background and this show really advertises that. The show also gives a good representation to how people adjust to new surroundings and people.
Here are two examples
Stella-is a Princess and she is in high school and she acts as most people are below her. I wouldn't have expected anything less when you see her mom come into the picture. She is demanding, rude, demeaning, and has high expectations. Stella feels the need to be brutal because that is how she was brought up. But as she gets away from her mom and surrounds herself with the girls in the Winx Suite it becomes clear to her that fear does not need to be her first choice. By the end of the show she is more independent and able to stand her ground and kinder.
Terra - she is the nice girl and she was around grown ups and students a lot since she are up at Alfea. It is no surprise that she is so welcoming and excited to meet new people. Especially people her own age. We see a change in Terra, at first she was low in self esteem but she rises to the occasion when trouble ensues.
In the end both become part of a great group and a once harsh critic now supports a friend who is happy to have connected with people her age.
