Blindness deals with topics such as the human condition, crime, survival, and forgiveness. This piece is highly philosophical! It will make you question your humanity and the intentions behind your actions. It contains great literary devices such as foreshadow and motif. The dog of tears represents a great motif for humanity. It basically answers the question: What happens when we all have fo face a pandemic? Not only that, but Saramago also includes a dehumanizing treatment of women in the novel: women become the sacrificial lambs (read it and you will see what I mean). This women play a crucial role in the story, sacrificing themselves for the sake of their loved ones. Survival of the fittest is also a recurrent theme in the novel. Read and you shall see how amazing this novel is!!! Well-deserved novel prize!!

“The Empty Man” is a riveting film with a horrible ending. This movie will captivate you in the beginning, mystify you in the middle, and disappoint you at the end. The writers engaged in an ambitious attempt to enthrall the audience, and yet, they ended up confusing us and disappointing us in the end. This movie would have been so much better had the writers displayed a real explanations for the occurrence. Throughout the movie, it is unclear whether it is a mystery, horror, or a detective film. The genre is so ambiguous. Overall, the movie is a far-fetched attempt to create mystery. It just creates ambiguity instead. Again, this could have been the movie of the year, but it ended up being a failed attempt.
