So, following all the controversy, finally got around to watching this. It is okay... It is a retelling of the Mulan legend as opposed to a live action remake of the Disney classic cartoon. No songs etc. Visually its very pretty, nice shots of scenery and costumes etc are done well. Also the acting isn't terrible. It wraps up pretty quick and the elements of Chinese mythology and Chi that are added are not relay explained for a western audience. It tried to bridge the gap and didn't quite make it. Watchable if your curious, multiple viewings, I highly doubt.
