Disappointing. A great story. This film could be remade but wirh a much better script and better direction and casting. I font recommend watching it.

If you are unhappily married, then get a robot who is an AI clone of all that you liked in your partner when you married. Happy days! Ghastly story, bad script. When anyone falls in love, they project onto the loved one the characteristics of their ideal person. Marriage is about being able to bear disappointments when the loved one doesn't live up to the idealised version. Marriage is about negotiating the disappointments each has of the other, it's about give and take and by this process each partner grows as a person. This film seems to suggest that the divorce rate will go down by utilising AI clones and no-one growing as a person.

A beautiful and unusual film. Bill Nighy at his best, I think. I particularly appreciated symbols such as his character losing his bowler hat and wearing another obtained from a stranger. A man bereaved of his wife some twenty years, finds a new young anima figure in a female colleague. This encounter gives the elderly man, with six months to live, the ability to find meaning, purpose and enjoyment in his final days.
