This is the best Mission Impossible screenplay in the M:I series, thanks in large part to “The Entity” Artificial Intelligence McGuffin. The stakes feel pretty high because of it and it says something interesting about humanity’s near future. Now for the parts that could improve, I think that the musical score was lacking and the weakest of the series. It didn’t give me that Mission Impossible excitement when you hear the theme song. And the casting of Esai Morales as the villain was pretty dull. It gave the main antagonist a soap opera feel. I don’t believe for a second that that dude could hold his own in a fight with Ethan Hunt. The action scenes were interesting, but not as well directed as other entries in the series, like the opening prison sequence in Ghost Protocol. The lighting is way too dark sometimes. But the bottom line is, I had a great time at the movies.
