I sobbed pretty much throughout the whole book. I don't know what is it was about the book that touched me so deeply. I just kept seeing this beautiful, big eyed, gentle soul and it broke me that she suffered from this. We have lost 2 dogs, both euthanased and it breaks you apart. I thought the octopus representing the tumour was a brilliant way of representing cancer, it is what it does! (Having had breast cancer and seeing the tumour before it was removed-it looked just like a baby octopus). I am not sure if I can read any more books by Steve Rowley as Lily and the Octopus affected me so very deeply. Sir, you have a gift of really getting at one's soul. It was a brilliant read, thank you. Diane Robertson
