I'm not sure what people are complaining about. As a comparison to the original timeline's version of the Phoenix saga this feels more like a drama and less like a Saturday morning cartoon. I suppose if that is what you want from Marvel... then by all means hate this version of Dark Phoenix. I personally detested the X-Men III original as just more Hollywood fluff in those dark before the dawn days before Marvel changed everything with the Avengers grand arch based stories. This Dark Phoenix fits better with contemporary super hero films.
