Same old boring Hollywood trope....Evil dorky men vs. perfect women. Women are not that weak that they have to be treated with kid gloves in every modern movie. I am DYING to find likable 'imperfect/human' female leads. I want to fall in love with more 'human' female characters like I used to in the old days à la Meryl Streep or Julia Roberts in literally every character they played. Having said that, Naomi Ackie acted her heart out in this film, and I do hope she gets better movies to do in the future. Also I do not agree with the consensus that she is not attractive enough to play leading roles. She looks drop-dead gorgeous with longer hair, and the make-up department should all have their abilities re-examined for the ugly haircut they gave her.

Make female leads likeable please. I beg you. It's not that hard, just add some quirks and flaws thus making them human and relatable. There really must be a subtler way to get the female empowerment agenda across. The whole story, writing quality, suspense, execution everything is sacrificed in the name of these agendas nowadays. And it's such a disservice to these talented actresses. They get the lead role of a lifetime in a huge franchise and they get completely overshadowed by the agenda. I went to the movie to watch aliens scare the hell out of me. What I got was 2 hours of Lupita's character trying to 'break out of her shell to trust and love again'... Same old autistic nonsense. Give me my money back.
