Joker 2 offers an intriguing take on an old adage, but despite its artistic flair, it feels a bit too broad and shallow in parts. While the attempt to evolve the storyline is admirable, the depth of certain characters—especially Harley Quinn—falls short. Her portrayal lacks the complexity fans may have hoped for, and it seems as though the filmmakers were eager to close Joaquin Phoenix’s chapter rather hastily.
That said, the performances are exceptional, and the music complements the film well, enhancing some genuinely emotional moments. However, for a first-time viewer, it might not fully resonate, leaving them wanting more substance. Despite its shortcomings, I applaud the effort, and for that reason, it still deserves a five-star rating for its boldness and ambitiousness... Still four star for his lack of development.
