More of a 4.5 out of 5 but still the best horror movie that I have seen in years! I like the evil dead movies though I don’t consider myself a ‘super fan’ or anything. I was looking forward to watching this as the evil dead movies never really misfire. And boy does Evil Dead Rise deliver! If you like a creepy, gory, fun time then please go and support this movie by purchasing a ticket. How this was nearly sent straight to streaming, I’ll never know... the characters are all likeable and go through good development, there’s no woke nonsense that Hollywood loves pumping into movies these days, the effects are very good, the cinematography is on point, the plot and setting is very effective. Just go and see it, you won’t be disappointed. My only hope is that we won’t be waiting another ten years for the next evil dead instalment.

Two out of five. Where do I start? I’ve never posted a movie review online before but after watching this I really need to get my thoughts out there. This movie is really tone deaf at times and will try to deliver on being a comedy without fully committing to being funny whilst also being brutally violent and cynical. I love action and dark comedy is easily my favourite but the violence in this movie is played completely serious and doesn’t hold back at all while the jokes aren’t actually all that funny. From the trailer I expected an over the top spoof type of comedy but this plays out nothing like this at all the comedy angle is often dropped altogether for lengthy spells at a time and then when our characters go back to making jokes and being silly it’s jarring because only moments prior we see some really over the top scenes of chaos. In summary. I have to say that I neither liked or disliked cocaine bear but it’s a weird movie and I came out of the screening feeling completely indifferent to it. So yeah, two out of five. - it’s not particularly good but it’s at least a competently made (albeit tonally confused) movie. I’ll likely never watch it again and will probably completely forget it exists within a few days time.
