This book is a mixture of a travel log, autobiography, biography and guide to the deer of Great Britain. It is excellently written, humorous and serious all at the same time. The description of the Scottish stalks are so well done that one can follow the action on Google Earth if one is so inclined. The characters the author meets and so well describes are a mixture ranging from the so well-grounded that nothing would move them to those a degree or two removed from sanctioning. It is an entertaining read and one that I can pick up annually to enjoy all over again.
