Started out quite unique and original for a horror film but soon degenerated into standard cliches for the final third of the film. Florence Pugh and Celia Imrie were good as always. There seemed to be a number of plot holes and totally ridiculous behaviour by some of the characters. The character of Jackson was completely unlikeable and seemed to have no redeeming qualities at all. I would give it a 5/10

A phenomenal film that can be appreciated on a number of different levels and offers many competing interpretations. There can be little doubt that Joaquin Phoenix suffered for his art in his portrayal of the title character. Just look at his skeletal physique throughout the movie. It is a very different Joker to the version played by Heath Ledger. Possibly the best thing about the film is that you have no idea how much of the story is real and how much is in the head of a very ill individual.
