Refreshing that they didn't take a female protagonist and Marysue the heck out of her character like Rey Skywalker, Mulan or Cpt Marvel. Naru is skilled and intelligent, but still suffers minor defeats throughout the beginning of the story, but she never stops learning from them. She plays to her strengths to fight a stronger and technically superior opponent, and believably so. As for the rest of the movie, this iteration of the Predator species is different enough to be interesting and similar enough to past incarnations to satisfy continuity. The pacing is well done for its 1 and 1/2 hours and the action is thrilling. The lack of accents for the characters was stark at first, but then I thought that if they did speak in stilted English it would have come off as stereotypical and clichéd. Anyways Hulu also presents a Comanche dubbed version so just watch that one. At a time when so many movies of tired franchises are being spat out by Hollywood, Prey is surprisingly and THANKFULLY well worth watching.
