Where to start? First of all, No other game has ever had me so encapsulated by the gameplay, biomes, art style, as much as Subnautica. The openworld survival game handles progression so naturally never forcing you one way or another. The progresion is limited by the crush depth of vehicles or your oxygen meter so players cannot get to end game parts of the map. This makes sense. The biomes are a wonder to explore. I would pay to get the experience of rolling into a new biome for the first time. Unlike Minecraft, which the biomes are procedurely generated, Subnauticas biomes all seem to have a purpose and work in conjunction with the progression. Everything feels like it was handcrafted. This masterpiece coming from a indie dev team is commendable. This game is the gold standard of openworld survival games.
