I'll go out on a comfortable limb and say this movie feels like it is in the same universe as Todd Phillips "JOKER". Dark, gloomy, mental health low... but with an extra double shot spin of depression and tireless Emo. The joker movie was right for it. I appreciated the thinking platform scenes of Bruce Wayne studying and taking notes to develop his plans. However, the batman was disturningly self destructive and sloppy, raw and unrefined. He felt like a regular dude with toys. I guess the emphasis was that he doesn't have super powers, Gotham is the organ in his chest and he is on a path towards his inherent resolve.
