Right from the beginning in the first scene this show strikes a serious (positive) chord with neurodiverse individuals. Especially those with a strong hypersensitivity component, such as myself, likely recognized how effective a depiction it is. I feel that neurotypicals are of course aware of the effect the show was portraying, but would be something that only an ND would truly recognize and relate to. Which in and of itself should indicate the creators' effort to appeal to all of us. Both those who are under the umbrella, and those who aren't.
