I think people who don't love this adaptation of Boccacchio's Decameron just don't get it. If the acting wasn't over the top broad stroked, it wouldn't mirror the type of performance one might have seen during the period.

Oh you magnificent actors!!! I haven't seen street theatre since I was very young. I wanted to run away and join a troupe of traveling players, imposing on the generosity of strangers until it ran out, then on to the next villa, never knowing what we'd find. Technically, not always subtle but this rare theater is something more.
