The dilemma for makers of TV dramas taken from a book is how much to condense the story to make it easy for their audiences to take it in. The original book is superb (as are his later books) but there is a lot to keep track of. I think the producers made a decent fist of this. I thought the acting was excellent from all the cast, particularly the younger actors which has been mentioned. I would hope that his later books will be filmed too.
