Great film, better than anything mainstream Hollywood has put out in decades. Not quite on par with 'Taxi Driver', 'Raging Bull' or 'Goodfellas' but a mobster classic never the less. It touches on what it means to be man of power in one's prime, then growing old and forgotten. It may be out of touch with current movie goers do to their lack of refinement and mental capacities.

I give the book an F. It starts out some what interesting with the old chef's stories about his grandfather, but the book falls flat after that. The dialogue is garbage, the ending is horrible. There a few glimpses of what made King a good writer but they are quickly erased with a lack of convincing narrative. I think King needs to step back from his 2000 words a day and focus on quality not quantity.

Twice now the film has out done the book, King gripes about Kubrick because of obvious jealousy. But Dr. Sleep the film is nothing too spectacular, a fairly average movie, nothing compared the Kubrick's 'Shining'. I'd give the film a C, but it is still leaps and bounds better than King's horrible book.
