This is not about the lesbian kiss, I actually believe Disney/Pixar could have shown more of that relationship's development. This is about the plot. It felt lackluster, more so than every other movie in the space-ranger shoot-em-up genre. There felt like there was no soul behind it. There were moments of humor, but not all were appropriately timed. Yes, the animation was good, but as other reviews have pointed out, to praise a Pixar movie for its animation is as pointless as it is to praise a fish for swimming or a bird for flight. Throughout much of the movie, I was bored and distracted, and even during climactic scenes I felt uninterested. Tension took forever to build, and Pixar had to resort to a "dramatic twist" villain that not only contradicted preexisting canon, but did nothing to spark emotion in the audience. Overall, the movie felt like a soulless cash grab looking to get in on the already completed Toy Story saga we know and love.
