I don't think some people understand that this show is an expansion of the movie. You can enjoy them both separately. The 1992 film is one of my favourite and this series just gives you more of that world. Frankly it's also ridiculously well made television. The kind you can rewatch more than once and see something new every time. You can feel the amount of thought and care the creators put into it, not just the story but also how it's told. Do yourself a favour and just watch it.
