The characters' passive acceptance of their fates reminded me of the robotic fools who tolerate what the British and American establishment expect of its subjects. If that was the point of the movie, it could have evolved into an interesting paradigm of life under late-stage capitalism. But apparently the author wasn't trying to draw that parallel or comment on it in any way. So we're left with a dire, soulless, pointless trudge through the apathy and resignation of the three clones, rather like watching sheep wander willingly to the slaughterhouse "because that's how it is".
