This is an amazing show. 100% recommend. It is inspiring and conveys a great message. It shows what reality is for some teenagers and how they try to cope with it. I also like how the show can show you different sides of characters and situations. For example, there is a recovering addict and it shows you that they go through struggle like anyone else and they show that they aren’t just scum that are lazy and don’t want a responsible way of life. It also shows the everyday struggle of African Americans in the United States and the racism they face. This also shows how teens are roped into gang life and don’t necessarily choose that life and it shines a bit of light on gang members and shows people that they aren’t as bad as they are conceived as people that are less educated on reality. I love how the show can show you the struggle of living in a not necessarily ideal situation but also show that is doesn’t matter where you come from you can still go through hardship. There are moments in the show where i have cried myself because the acting is amazing and some of the content is relatable to me and to see it represented on screen in a positive way is amazing.
