The beginning was a disjointed mess that had me asking questions that were never answered. It jumped all over the place like each writer wanted to tell a different story. When the main story did finally get going the jokes landed flat and all pop culture references were there for no other reason other than for the audience to say "Yay, I understood that".
Even if you ignore the bad editing beats, the bad dialogue, the poor continuity, you can't ignore the bad story telling. There story arch and character development leave a lot to be desired.
I like the first movie but there is no reason for this one to exist.
