The Mauve Mama

As a very big fan of the first movie, I was trying not to set my heights too high and I was curious to see how they would tie in all the humour given the sensitivity in the world right regarding so many issues (racism, sexism, gender equality, etc). But this movie delivered. From an all-star cast tying everything back to the first movie and bringing back jokes it was such a great experience! It’s what every sequel movie should aim to be like (in my opinion). Yes it’s a cheesy love story, so knowing this going into it, you aren’t going to expect much else. I personally thought there could have been a bit more work on the editing to make those self-reflecting and enlightening scenes cut a bit shorter coz they seemed to drag on and on, and one after the other....so for that reason I’m dropping a star. I also feel there were some of the “deleted scenes” that had great jokes that would have been great in the movie. But otherwise it is a full 5 for me. I can’t wait to watch this movie again tomorrow. Definitely and ode to the first movie and all the actors and characters, with a particular attention to today’s issues. If you loved the first movie, you have to watch the second :D
