This movie is incredible. Its breathtakingly unique direction is like nothing the industry has ever seen. Its cinematography is suffocating and claustrophobic, and in conjunction with its spine-tingling soundtrack, it provides a cinematic experience like no other. Its worldbuilding is simple yet effective, in the terribly large desert I can practically taste the saliva, and feel the rumblies of our protagonists empty tummy. But the delicious cherry on top of this irrefutably remarkable movie magic cake, is the acting. The acting. THE ACTING. James Franco's performance was indescribably nuanced and complicated, his subtle facial movements portray aa life of fun, with an underlying family tragedy. His portrayal of Aron Ralston was so human, and believable, I basically forgot that he's a sex offender, and sexually manipulated countless women. Truly impressive.
