This movie has no depth and very silly. Domestic violence is a grave issue that has been portrayed in a very over-dramatized manner. Also in various places, the dialogues are absolutely meaningless and unnecessarily extravagant. I don't think this movie uses Aparajita Adhya properly. She is far more talented than delivering stupid dialogues or getting involved in bizarre fights with her daughter. The daughter also seems to be melodramatic about everything around her. Nothing seems relatable with a Bengali family. There have been many outstanding films portraying dysfunctional families like "Kapoor & Sons", "Tribhanga" or "Haider", which we all could relate to. But "Cheeni" instead of showcasing a dysfunctional family, ended up telling a weird story that seemed very unrealistic. It felt as if the director was confused whether he wanted to make a film belonging to the Rituparno Ghosh or Kaushik Ganguly genre or a film belonging to Dev's "Paglu" genre. And at the end, he mixed both of them to create something absurd!
The only good thing to see was Sourav Das' acting.
