It’s a lovely story, the adaptation, poetry, music and eloquent way of articulating love through language. It had the opportunity and power to be creative and less inadvertently stereotypical with the black Christian not being able to express himself and needing a white man to help. We are, folks still living in a racial context and we should find every opportunity to built an inclusive and different narrative and be creative in the way anyone can be represented. We need to at least, as creators be aware of these opportunities.
