Although Homeland did keep me interested enough to watch all seasons up to now, I would only give it 3 Stars and would hesitantly recommend it to the faithful binge series watchers out there. Homeland had a ton of potential with the storyline but the plot takes too-many shortcuts and some of the acting is so way over the top that fans who appreciate realism in stories will soon discover the implausibility of the story. “Crazy” Carrie is so whacked out that the CIA would have never allowed her back into the fold. Yet, she continues to get chances - even promotions. Brody as a congressman spent his entire term being cornered by the CIA or on missions with the terrorists. Yet no one seemed to question why he seemingly didn’t put in one solid days work as a congressman. Then suddenly he is on the fast track to become Vice President? Just a couple examples of the many “C’mon!” moments I had with the plot. The characters of Carrie and Brody’s daughter were specifically irritating. Between Carries whacked out screaming and heavy-breathing and Brody’s Daughters spoiled brat attitude and constant depressing demeaned - the two of them made the segments of the episodes they appear in making me yearn for the scene to end as soon as possible. But Homeland is not all bad - if you go into it not expecting a non-fiction feel to it and are not as much as a realist as myself, you may just enjoy the ride. It’s just disappointing that a show with seemingly a generous budget to work with kind-of whiffed on the plot and the casting.
