Was ready to give up watching after the first episode but sometimes you have to just let it play out and things will come together in the end. Then there are times, as is in the case of Witcher, where it doesn't matter how much time you give it, it still ends up a muddled mess.
There were often too many characters thrown in, which wouldn't be bad except for the lack of solid character development for ANY of them. So I ended up seeing character after character introduced, watching their actions without really understanding their "why" or even their "how".
Even the main character had no depth. A mopey, brooding, monster killer who is viewed as a monster himself. As much as I enjoy Cavill, there were a number of moments he even slipped up and couldn't carry the accent.
Other issues included confusing timelines, huge holes in the story and confusion over the Witcher himself. I mean,
we're told no less than 3 times that he feels no emotion yet he falls in love with Yennifer and, other than physical attraction, I'm still scratching my head over what what would make him fall in love with her in the first place.?
I hope they read our reviews and make the needed changes for season 2. This show has so much potential and deserves to have someone take the helm and help it reach that potential. Otherwise, meh, lots of other programs to watch out there.
