I gave it three episodes and it's a stinker. I tried to watch it as a stand alone series loosely based of LOR. However, lazy and poor writing, one dimensional characters that many times come off as caricatures, bad pacing, trope lines, and predictable narrative are just too much of an anchor to make up for beautiful cinematography.
I appreciate trying to create/portray strong female leads, but perhaps establishing a new character is a better way to do that. Instead we get a pretty, stubborn and pensive teenager with poor social skills and obsessive tendencies. This is an individual who is a sorceress from an ancient and wise clan who is at least pushing a thousand (or several thousand). It does not gel. And, even if I throw away Galadriel's canon, the character is at best annoying. It also leads to dumbing down of everything around her in order for the character to appear somewhat better on screen.
Elrond is terribly miscast (no offense to the actor). Elvish warriors are now inept lovesick boys who are easily trapped and apparently have no fighting skills. And somehow Hobbits morphed into leprechaun cousins?
Multiple meandering plotlines feel like forced introduction on first day of school.
Bottom line: generic plot, poor casting, cliche dialogue, one dimensional simplistic characters, and sllooowww pacing makes it just plain boring.
