We just got back from watching this movie and me & the wife looked at each other and said where the hell did the stories go!!?? It appears that Costner fancies himself a screen writer on the level & caliber of Taylor Sheridan. He is NOT!! This movie was all over the place, had waaay too many storylines to follow & did not follow the hero's journey to be fluid enough to complete a first seen of each storyline. Costner can act, direct, & produce but he can not WRITE!! I read a review that said this movie's demographic appeals to 50-80 year old white men. WHY?? A good western screen writer should appeal to all demographics and not confuse the audience. It looks like Costner was in a hurry to complete this 1st part of Horizon so he could get back to filming Yellowstone & hang out with an A-list screen writer. Couldn't get behind it, to me it was a big misfire!
