Having given The Makanai:Cooking for the Maiko House 5 stars, I looked forward to another Netflix film of a different genre. I did not know this movie was written by someone who has no ancestral connection to America,or that Obama had produced it, until I vetted that info half-way through the film. I had already formed my opinion. I didn't like it at all! It did however,remind me of M.Night Shyamalan's horrible movies. I could only give it one star, for being on Netflix! Earlier in the day I had watched the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers. What a masterpiece! I also watched an episode of my newest, favorite series on Acorn, Recipes for Love and Murder. I was emotionally involved in both. They were not filled with neo-liberal and progressive symbolism like this Netflix film. The producers obviously chose this as a project because they live in an alternate universe. It's crystal clear that the producers don't connect with the average American at all! The only emotion this film elicited was in the driverless car scene. It reminded me of Elon Musk lousy Teslas that froze and left drivers stranded in the frigid snowstorms across the country.I couldn't stop laughing. Oh, now I know where all of the deer normally in my backyard went. They did extra work for the movie🤣

This is one of the most delicious, delightful, beautifully filmed, exciting murder mystery series I've seen in a long time!!! If you loved the series Rosemary and Thyme's focus on flora, fauna, and murder, then you'll enjoy this refreshingly unique series from South Africa. This series, like R&T has a gorgeous introduction. This binge worthy show has a great cast, including the always pleasing to watch, actress Maria Doyle Kennedy of Downton Abbey, and Outlander fame! Mouth-watering delights, an introduction to South African culture, chuckles,tears and murder served a la carte call for a season 2! Please, bring back Jessie!!! I've tried 2 of the featured yummy recipes and was not disappointed.

Exposes the lack of historical knowledge Americans have about the history of this country. Exposes the racism people aren't aware they harbor when asking the questions in pure ignorance. ADOS visitors to these historic sites can elicit pride or anger in the questions they ask, or the comments they make. Their generational trauma causes much pain. I love its humor while teaching the truth. I can't stop laughing. I love her non-verbals, priceless! COVID lockdown calls for a season 3!!! She slaps the white gaze in the face!

I HAVE READ BOTH SCHOLARLY BOOKS WRITTEN ABOUT HARRIET TUBMAN. I FAILED TO SEE THAT HARRIET IN THE FILM. FABRICATED CHARACTERS CREATED FROM THE MIND OF A BLACK WOMAN IS VERY TROUBLING. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IS THERE SINGING? A BLACK BOUNTY HUNTER? A YAKKI HAIR WIG ON AN AFRICAN WOMAN? HER ACCENT SLIPS FROM TIME TO TIME, A WOMAN CALLED MOSES IS A FAR SUPERIOR ADAPTATION OF HARRIET. WHY DID YOU PUT HER IN UNIFORM? DID YOU NOT CONSULT ANY BLACK RE-ENACTORS? I'M ONE AND SHE DID NOT WEAR THAT RIDICULOUS UNIFORM. IN FACT, MANY SOLDIERS WORE SIMILAR CLOTHES ON BOTH SIDES. DID YOU NOT KNOW THIS? I FOUND THE FILM PAINFUL TO WATCH BECAUSE OF THE LIES PRESENTED ON THE SCREEN. I HAD A FREE TICKET. I WOULD NEVER PAY TO WATCH A RACIST PORTRAY AN ADOS. LOVE INTEREST???? PLEASE CHOOSE ANOTHER CAREER UNTIL YOU GET OUR HISTORY RIGHT. I TOTALLY DISMISS THE WOMAN WHO FAKED HARRIET. YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER. THIS HORRIBLE MOVIE BROKE MY HEART!

I LOVED this movie based on fact. Where's all the philanthropist who could help along with the city government? The line that touched me the most"You don't own anything how you gonna save these horses and preserve our culture?" The Fletcher street Cowboys need a protected space within the city!!! ADOS (American Descendants of Slavery) ride everyday In cities of Hartford,Connecticut, Oakland,California, Brooklyn New York, and Los Angeles. They must not let our history die.We must not let this part of American history die. This movie deserves the wide screen.
