I was skeptical about the Dead island 2 at first because of the reviews released by game informer, IGN, and other various gaming news channels. However, I am completely baffled and amazed at how great this game is. The fluidity of weapon movement, coupled with the quick response when pressing the controller, made the movement of the weapon in-game smooth and impactful. I could feel the feedback from hits to zombified angelenos. I am playing on PlayStation 5 so I can only speak for the game’s performance on my system. Though the game is designed to be linear and in districts, every district feels enormous and I always find myself doubling back to places I forgot had initially existed. The interiors and exteriors of buildings are so intricately detailed and designed, I would find myself slowing down and admiring every letter, painting, poster, moldy burger, and various other objects. The voice acting… I just can’t get enough of it, it feels and sounds so normal. The voice acting of every character sounds authentic and engaging, it reflects their facial expression when they heighten or lower their voices to reflect emotion. The environment is something to behold and awe, the palm trees sway in the wind and the landscape feels like something from reality. Almost every surface will react with effects from enemies and weapons such as fire, electrify, and water. The ambience of the game is stellar as well, it feels like I’m actually in the game trying my best to navigate what little remains of civilization in the zombie infested affluent neighborhoods and beach cities. I’m playing as Ryan and have enjoyed every second of it. The game also has various zombie types and the gore system is amazingly detailed. From the liver of an enemy jiggling to the brain and eye sockets flying out of the head, this pulp adventure is sure to satisfy any zombie players wishlist for a great zombie game. I don’t think i will ever get tired of playing dead island 2, I have already made a couple of friend just by playing co-op. Really, this game is something to behold and treasure. I hope to see you in HEL-L.A.
