Jason Fox – Google

When I first heard Rob Zombie was doing the Munsters, as a fan of the original, I basically bashed the idea, thinking he'd ruin it given his past movies in gruesome horror as an indication. I was completely wrong. Only true fans get this genuine homage to the original. While I didn't think it perfect by any means, it was so much better than I expected it to be. Daniel Roebuck really stole every scene he was in, and was most relatable to the original, without seeming to just impersonate Al Lewis. The others were a little over the top, but that's what a good natured film like this is. Chuck full of Easter Eggs, I appreciate the attempt, although I would have preferred more time spent in the US scenes and not as much in Transylvania. This "screams" for a sequel, where characters like Marilyn and Eddie can be added, exploring Herman's employment at the Parlor!

Very reminiscent of Return of the Jedi. Opening scene rocked, then a bit of a let down, until reaching the last 45 minutes of the film. The multitude of trailers gave way too much away. I also never believed all those leaks and spoilers would be so thoroughly accurate. Not the best Episode, but not the worst. Making several films out of a story arc seems to work better with complete novels coming first for smooth transition and cohesion (ie. Harry Potter), vs. having canon writers of varying ideas developing, modifying or interpreting a theme differently. Grade: B.

At the halfway point i turned it off and read some reviews. The only thing bigger than the hype around this film was the let down. I have little empathy for any of the characters, and their lack of depth left me caring little about what ends up happening to them. The true "horror" of the story is-the LACK of horror. I was more terrified of the thought of having to live in that town than the "it" running around there.
