When I first heard Rob Zombie was doing the Munsters, as a fan of the original, I basically bashed the idea, thinking he'd ruin it given his past movies in gruesome horror as an indication.
I was completely wrong. Only true fans get this genuine homage to the original. While I didn't think it perfect by any means, it was so much better than I expected it to be. Daniel Roebuck really stole every scene he was in, and was most relatable to the original, without seeming to just impersonate Al Lewis. The others were a little over the top, but that's what a good natured film like this is.
Chuck full of Easter Eggs, I appreciate the attempt, although I would have preferred more time spent in the US scenes and not as much in Transylvania. This "screams" for a sequel, where characters like Marilyn and Eddie can be added, exploring Herman's employment at the Parlor!
