I haven't read Russo's book. I'm reminded of Kingsley Amis' Lucky Jim, which I read 55 years ago. I'll be reading both soon. I'll see if there's a similarity between the books.
I fear the TV show may be too smart for the current American viewers so will enjoy it while it's around. Maybe it's too adult.
