I cannot alot even one star, had I paid to see this I would have no hesitation in 'demanding' a refund.
I HAVE to alot a star - note I do this unwillingly yet If I don't this will not show?
For me it failed both as a film using a Dickens plot, and second Musically, possibly because they chose and stayed with the wrong Musical Director . . . . even though somebody in authority must have been aware as to their suitability. The question is why were they kept on? None of the songs has survived into the C21st. The 'urchin carol singers' have no redeemimng feature's, they failed as a unit, but cannot be blamed for a lack of harmony as there was none emitting from the song writers pen, but also lacking in the 'boyish humour' one might expect of as a group of friends out carol singing - 'Ebby' speaks honestly of them - perhaps the one piece of accurate script writing.
The 'Fezziwig cabaret' of dancers are to 'obviously' professional, performing 'rigidly' as though in a military parade - his failure to elude the womens advance and 'fall', so very carefully orchestrated. In fact possibly the best 'orchestration' in the film!
Others commenting here may have seen something that eluded me, or are part of the 'establishment' - not a single word of criticism or fault observed - believe me, 'nothing' is that perfect, even after editing? I find that very disturbing.
