Objectively, NOPE is a good movie. The reason I'm giving the movie three stars is personal preference -- I do not like watching animals suffering or being the cause of human suffering (albeit fiction). The scene with Gordy was the most uncomfortable I have felt in a movie EVER. If I wasn't there with friends, I would have left immediately. Despite this particularly gruesome and shocking scene, I think NOPE is an interesting, modern take on the cowboys vs. aliens film concept. I think it's worth the watch as long as you don't mind seeing innocent animals (horses, a chimp) in pain/being the cause of pain. Just be prepared to pay attention so you aren't confused like all the one-star reviews :)
