I like the actors and really wanted to Love the film. But its half baked affair.
Using the daughters instead of sons doesn't work either. Playing dumb like that just doesn't seem to work at all when played by girls. Guys are always better as dumb because they generally are more immature when younger. Had they done that, Bill and Ted as characters, could have been more sarcastic, sharing more jokes than they could with their daughters. Its just a dynamic which was flat and wasted. You had more interaction in the previous movies.
When you hear the script it seems it was a last minute decision to change their sex. The script in general isn't that great and neither are the supporting characters. I thought they were stepping into the multiverse seeing themselves in different iterations. Meaning you could have had intelligent versions of themselves even a John wick parody, but sadly it didn't happen.
Lastly the film score just isn't there and neither is a decent soundtrack, and that takes alot away from the movie. The originals had music from real bands and that great song by Kiss. Sadly again that energy and ingredient is missing and you can feel it. Its not woke but it definitely has hints of it.
Is it a bad film? No its not a bad movie but not great either. Waited a while for this and really thought it would be better. Still at least they tried.
