Genuinely might be my least favorite Fire Emblem game to date.
The story is boring, no buildup to any twists or deaths. I dont even get time to know or care about anyone who dies because withing 2 missions of meeting them, they die. Most characters early game are all variations of "oh my god its you, let me lick your boots!" And while the excitement is understandable, you are the literal child of god. Wow is it annoying, maybe tone it down a little?
But basically everything in the plot happens not because it was interesting, built up to, or eluded to. it just happens because the plot demands that something has to happen. It's lazy writing.
The only good thing is that on higher difficulties the challenge is pretty good. Gameplay is pretty solid.
--SPOILER--SPOILER--SPOILER--
And this all culminated in the story at chapter 10. You couldn't run from the cathedral so you fight your way in to stop the ritual, fail, and the evil god rises. Then from the closed door 4 more enemies walk in and you get an intro to all of them, these are supposed to be your rivals until you get strong enough to take down evil god. Then you raise your hands, on which you were wearing literal magic rings that you gain power from with the power of friendship and.... nothing.
Oh no, in the 2 minutes of introduction the person you were talking to from 30 feet away somehow snuck up behind you and stole the literal magic rings off the fingers of you and your 4 party members, and materialized the 6th one in your possession out of thin air. That you keep in your mind castle a billion miles away or that is on the 6th member of your group.... that is not there.
And then you run and the bad guys hunt you down with the rings that you only got power from with the power of friendship but they can use without that.
