The expansion itself is great. Great new subclasses, interesting story, fresh new update to the look and feel to the game. However, most of the bad reviews here are NOT about Beyond Light but instead the state of Destiny 2 for the veteran player at the moment. A large amount of content (40%-50%) was taken out of the game to reduce file size and further the games longevity over the coming years. This content was replaced with an expansion that was 10% the size. So most players feel that instead of getting a good DLC, Bungie has just taken a huge amount of content out of the game. These 1/5 reviews are not justified for the expansion itself, but instead are an expression of the pain players are feeling from content being vaulted.
