I don't mean to be cruel, but that was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The plot had more holes than a sieve, the writing was awful, so many things were implausible, and except for Mr Ali and the girl that played his daughter, the acting sucked. I don't know whether it was the script or what, but it just seemed that Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke's characters were hysterical, overacted, and redundant. Here are a few things that cross my mind while watching this. I'm sure that anyone who watched it will agree. 1. How the hell did Ethan Hawke leave that poor Spanish-speaking women on that road? She was not threatening him, and for all he knew, he could have brought her back to the house and somebody else might have known enough Spanish to understand what she was trying to tell him. He just left her there 2. What was the b******* about the animals trying to tell them something? If they were hacking things, how would that affect animal behavior. That scene where the deer were closing in on Julia Roberts and the house owner's daughter was ridiculous. What were they going to do? Eat them? Trample them to death? Ask for snacks? 3. How did the owner of the house survived an airplane going through that house that he was running ? He sure as hell wasn't going to come out of that with just some wet clothes. 4. The scene where the teenage son starts pulling out his own teeth was ridiculous. No person would continue to fill their teeth out after one came out, especially a self-conscious teenager. And what was going on with him that was worth risking their lives to annoy Kevin Bacon? They didn't know this kid had an infection. Surely these people would have realized that if this guy was the survivalist type, but he wasn't going to be sharing his booty with all of them Honestly, I put this movie in the same category as Bird Box, Breathless and The English Patient as one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
