Genuinely the worst film I've ever watched in my life, how Baz Lurhmann still has a career in cinema I do not know. There is no shot that lasts longer than 3 seconds and the whole thing is shot like a trailer. With fancy edits and super close ups. Not to mention the fact that it doesn't play more than a few seconds of an Elvis song and has more time for doja cat and swae lee's talentless tracks as if to compare their influence over music to Elvis's. I mean come on, I'm only 19 but I still know that popular music does not fit into a biopic about Elvis Presley. It was more about remixes than any of his songs. The plot didn't go into any more depth than a list of bullet points of his life and I kept anticipating a scene when there would be an actual conversation. It never once showed Presley's true character or higighted any of his internal struggles. the script was too basic to portray anything of value which is disappointing because that is now the depiction of who is who elivs is to my generation. Because of this film they will not truly understand his influence on music and his importance. The film did not allow for anyone to truly appreciate the hard work Butler put into studying this role. His impersonation of Elvis was the ONLY good aspect of this film which is a shame because it is completely overshadowed by the horrific cinematography.
