I have so many thoughts about this remade series. It was full of CHOICES. Some I think are cool. Gender and race swaps for example. Most I think ranged from ill-advised to dumb to bad. The 2020 version lacked gravitas. Didn't let me get to know, or like, nearly all of the characters.
Granted, the book is one of my favourites and I grew up on the 1994 version but I was so excited for this one. They could do more, had more episodes to tell the story more completely but that isn't the case. The story ricochets back and forth in time enough to give you whiplash. You don't get to live with these characters at all. I don't feel their emotions at all. It almost feels like there are zero stakes and that is the complete antithesis of what The Stand is about.
Two stars for effort but really feels like a one star.
