I'm currently reading the book, 'Long Way Round', featuring the round the world adventures of Ewen McGregor & Charley Boorman, driving motorcycles.
There is more info on the book than their televised series.
I read another book, on the same subject, called, Jupiter's Travels. Written by Ted Simon.
And it was during my last occupation, where I controlled a modern Waste-to-Energy PowerStation, that I asked if I could have an unpaid year off my job. Why? They asked. I replied... to drive around the world on a motorcycle. 'No'. They answered.
I left & moved to Morocco instead. 😆 It was their loss. Trust me.
As for Ewen & Charley? They were so nieve & inexperienced for this journey
They were so involved with missing their families. What did they expect?
And ... hardship through adversity, leading to learning & adapting was never their strong-points.
They acted like children looking for a nanny.
Geez! A pair of gays on bikes!
A better program would be ex Special Forces guys doing the exact same journey, but with better attitudes. And able to deal with threats too. That would be a much better program. Do it!!!
