I know comparing a film to a book is unfair, however the film would be so much more interesting if they kept for concepts of the book! I remember liking Artemis Fowl for the conceiving, brilliant, but slighty anti hero plans that were made. Artemis is supposed to be a more emotionless boy/ a big brain for his young age. A genius basically. Him being a genius was poorly portrayed in the movie. With everything going on in the film , it was difficult to even think that Artemis was creating plans. Most of the time, Artemis is next to his Butler, making me think that he can't do anything without an adult.
The scenes with adults were kind of strange too. It was like watching Spy Kids where the adults were mob characters that had this specific script and a generally useless role more or less to just read a script. I couldn't get into the movie at all. Holly should have also been a bother main character but she had little impact. She should be more spunky, a little less bland. They should have made her hair a blazing red since it would make us notice her more, like in the story.
All in all, extremely bored of the film. It is more for extremely younger audiences who like the visiuals more than the story
