I really wanted to like this game. It definately has its moments. Neon and Akila city are fantastic and immersive as you would expect from a studio with Bethesda’s credits. Ship building and combat are a pretty nice addition to Bethesda’s stable of rpg mechanics. The main quest is engaging as mysteries are revealed the first time (and beautifully done), but become disappointingly repetitive as you continue through the story. There are a few fun and unique side quest; a then, there’s an endless amount of tedious gofers. The majority of map walking is uninspired outside of the main settlements. Base building is lame and acquiring building materials and surveying planets is tedious. I found the game pretty solid for the first tens of hours and then it quickly became a chore. It just feels big for the sake of bigness.
